OUR
MISSION

Man Carrying Child in Arms

Our Firm Mission...our raison d'être...our "why" is real simple.

It's You!

At PRIVETTE LEGACY PLANNING, estate planning is not simply a service we tacked on to appeal to existing clients. We did not wake up one day and decide drafting wills or trusts was a nice way to pad our bottom line while we engaged in the real area of law we liked. We are not mere "dabblers" in the field. Estate work is all we do.

This is important because trusts and estates work is considered one of the riskiest practice areas for malpractice claims. Why? Because many times, the flaws in planning are not discovered until it's too late to fix them! It's often in the administration phase - after the client has died - that mistakes are found. The family is then stuck with planning that did not work as intended. This could have disastrous consequences, which is why it is so important to work with an attorney well-steeped in this area of the law. The risk to your family it too great to trust matters to a "dabbler."

Because we do not need to split time between keeping up with the latest developments in criminal law, personal injury law, and all the many other types of law typically seen in general practices, we can keep our focus solely on what's important -
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

There have been significant changes in the estates and tax laws at both the federal and state level in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, and 2020. In 2021, there are four legislative proposals at the federal level that would radically change how inheritances are taxed. With the constantly changing legal landscape, you deserve a counselor and advisor whose sole focus is on this area of the law. You need an experienced North Carolina wills, trusts, and estates lawyer who can help you navigate what these legal changes mean for you and your family.
